Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi has been considered amongst those very few musicians who possess both the natural quality of brilliance and the heredity of individual brilliance. This combination, the perfect concoction has been regarded as the happy alliance of nature. Today Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi has been reckoned as the burning star of the Indian Carnatic music horizon. Though she has been trained in the old tradition of Carnatic music, she has always attempted to combine the old one with her fresh innovative ideas. In another word she endeavours to regulate her nostalgia into fresh sounds, recreating and personalizing every raaga while adapting the earlier melodic styles.
Early Life of Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi
Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi was born to illustrious father Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Professor K. V. Narayanswamy. Her father`s execution of Carnatic music has been deliberated as a mirror image of his great Guru, Ariakudi Ramanuja Iyengar, and the undisputed leader of the modern age of music. Born and raised in such a musical Gharana, it is imperative for Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi to imbibe the age-old tradition of Carnatic music from her father. The world of Carnatic music has been explored to her when she was only 3 years old. By the 10 years of age Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi has been taught the basic grammars of music. She began her training under her mother`s expert and valuable tutelage. The Ford Foundation in the year 1991 has conferred her scholarship with which she has bagged the honour of being trained under the legendary Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T. Vishwanathan and Padmabushan Smt. T. Brinda for six long months. At the same time she was also receiving training under Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. She has also bagged the honour of being guided by legendary Padmabushan Smt. M. S. Subbalakshmi. Later on Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Madras University.
Career of Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi
Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi gave her first public solo performance in the year 1986, when she was at her 18 years of age under the auspices of the Indian Fine Arts Society, Chennai, at the December Music Festival. She has also performed in the Horizon series at New Delhi. The Indian Council of Cultural Relations conducted the series. She has also participated at the Thyagaraja Aradhana festival and at the Carnatic music concert organized at Muscat`s Al Bustan Palace Hotel by Indian Airlines and National Travel and Tourism. Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi has also executed abroad in the countries like Middle East, the United States, Canada, Singapore and Malayasia.
Achievements of Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi
Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthi has been conferred many accolades as recognition to her expertise. To name a few they are the Best Junior Vocalist at the December Music Festival organised by Naradha Gana Sabha in the year 1991; D.K.Pattamal Award for music in the year 1997, awarded by the Music Academy, Chennai; the Best Raga Alapana Award by Indian Fine Arts Society in the year 1997; the Valarum Kalaignar Award by Tamil Isai Sangam, Madurai, in the year 1998; the Best Neraval Award by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in the year 1997. Acknowledging her talent she has been given the honour of being `A` Grade artiste with AIR, Chennai. She on a regular basis has executed in various music programmes aired by All India Radio. To her credit she has also released many albums and cassettes, which have received well appreciation all over. Her album `Rupkala` cut for HMV is an expression of a genius. `Andal Thiruppavai` and `Sri Venkateswara Suprapadham` are her cassettes that have set the path to the puzzling souls in almost every South Indian household. `Amritha Ranjani` and `Raga Anuragam` have been delivered with intensity and musical energy.
