Ahivant Fort is located at a distance of 55 km from Nashik in Nashik District of Maharashtra. There are three forts located close to each other namely, Achala Fort, Ahivant Fort and Mohandar Fort. The other two forts were constructed to guard the Ahivant Fort. Most of the Fort is now in ruined state. The ruins of store houses and arches along with some bastions and water cisterns can be seen in the fort campus now. There is a large pond inside the fort campus.
History of Ahivant Fort
This fort was under the control of Adilshah in the year 1636. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan sent one of his Generals Shaista Khan and entrusted to win all the forts in Nashik region. Alivardi Khan was cavalier of Shaista Khan who won the Fort. In 1670 king Shivaji won the fort from the Mughals. Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb sent his chieftain Mahabat Khan to win the fort. Mahabat Khan and Diler Khan opened battle front from either side of the fort. The attack was so fierce that the fort was surrendered to the Mughals. In 1818 the fort was captured by British Colonel Prother.

Nasik Road Railway Station and Gandhinagar Airport are the nearest to visit the Ahivant Fort. National Highway 53 connects Nashik to other parts of Maharashtra.
