Golden Buddha Statue is a 23-metre high statue of Maitreya Buddha, covered with gold present in the Likir Monastery complex. The Likir Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir.
Likir is an ancient place of worship that is believed to be guarded by two sacred serpents - Nanda and Taksako. Belonging to the Gelug-pa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Likir Monastery was established in AD 1065, during the dominion of King Lhachen Gyalpo.
