72nd Indian Infantry Brigade

The 72nd Indian Infantry Brigade was formed under the British Empire in India as an infantry formation for service in the Second World War. The brigade remained in active service from 1943 to 1944. It was raised originally in January 1941. The infantry formation was designated as British 72nd Infantry Brigade on 1 June 1943. A new 72nd Indian Infantry Brigade was raised on 28 April 1943 in British India under the administrative authority of the British Indian Army. Initially it was attached with the 36th Indian Infantry Division.

The troops of the 72nd Indian Infantry Brigade took part in several conflicts and campaigns of the British Government of India. It also participated in Burma Campaign in the South East Asian Theatre of the Second World War. Brigadier A. R. Aslett was one of the most noted Commanding Officers of the army formation.

* 11th Devonshire Regiment (8 October 1941 to 25 May 1943)
* 30th Field Company, Indian Engineers
* 6th South Wales Borderers (28 April 1944 to 18 July 1945)
* 10th Gloucestershire Regiment (28 April 1944 to 16 July 1945)
* 9th Royal Sussex Regiment(28 April 1944 to 31 August 1945)
