The 22nd Indian Infantry Brigade was raised from the assets of the 8th Indian Infantry Brigade. It was initially attached to the 9th Indian Infantry Division. The troops of the infantry formation were station in Malaya and later took part in the Malayan Campaign. Eventually the 22nd Indian Infantry Brigade surrendered on 1 February 1942 to the Japanese forces.
