Later detachments of the brigade were sent to Abaden in Persia to take part in the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran. The troops were attached to the 10th Indian Infantry Division in June 1942 and were stationed in North Africa. There it actively participated in the North African Campaign. The brigade suffered heavy casualties during the military operations in North Africa. The remaining troops were attached with the 5th Indian Infantry Division.
