History of Shri Vaktapur Teerth
The history of Shri Vaktapur Teerth suggests that it is a very ancient teerth. It is believed that Shrimad Vijayanandaghanasuri Maharaj Saheb had envisaged the plan of setting up of a small teerth for the sages as well as the Jain community. He wished to establish it within 30 kilometers near Himmatnagar and Idar on the Ambaji state highway. Thus it was under his inspiration that the idea of developing a small teerth was materialized. However, later the small teerth was developed into a big one. His holiness Acharyadev Yogadivakar Vijayadasurisvarji, the prime disciple of Shrimad Vijaybhvansurisvarji Maharaj Saheb, established Shree Parshvapadmavati Jain teerth here. They also installed the idol of lord Parshvanatha in the temple. Apart from the main idol other idols of Nakoda Bhairavji and Shri Manibhadravir were also installed. Besides, there is also a Gurumandir of Mandevsuri who is credited with composing the Jain stotra of Laghu Shanti. The idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees from far off places. They come here to offer their prayers to the Lord and receive his blessings. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.
