Beldanga is a city as well as a municipality situated in the Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal in the eastern part of India. The district covers an area of 5,341 sq km. It has a population of 5.863 m (as per the 2001 census).
The exact geographical location of the town of Beldanga is at 93° North and 88.25° East. It has a mean elevation of 20 metres (65 feet). The 2001 India census records a population of 25,361 in the town, which has 52% males and 48% females (13% are children below 6 years). Whereas the whole country records a literacy rate of 59.5%, this small town has a cosiderably higher literacy rate of 67%. There are 55% literate males and 45% literate females.
