Malleeswarar Temple is dedicated to lord Malleeswara. It is located behind Sri Karaneeswarar Temple. It is the abode of Sri Malleeswarar and Mother Maragathambal.
Prarthan, a Shiva devotee of Ayodhya chose this place full Malligai (Jasmine bushes) to do penance on Lord Shiva. He was blessed with the darshan of the Lord along with his consort "Maragathambal." The Lingam that was worshipped by him was in an area of Malligai bushes and therefore the name of the temple is "Malleeswarar ".
It is believed that the garlands exchanged between the `God` & the `Goddess` during the `Kalyana Uthsavam` if worn by an unmarried person & kept safely at home would bring wedlock. It is also believed that offering Jasmine garland on six consecutive Mondays to Lord Shiva will fulfil one`s wishes.
The other shrines in the temple building are that of include that of Lord Brahma, Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, Murugan, Lord Ayyappa and Bhakta Anjaneyar.
