40th Indian Infantry Brigade

40th Indian Infantry Brigade remained in active service from 1942 to 1944. It was allotted to the 2nd Indian Infantry Division and took part in the operations in Iraq.

The 40th Indian Infantry Brigade was a British Indian infantry force that served during the Second World War. It remained in existence from the year 1942 to 1944. The brigade was raised in September 1942 under the British Empire in India. The 40th Indian Infantry Brigade was initially allotted to the 2nd Indian Infantry Division and provided service on Lines of Communication duties in Iraq. It was later re-grouped in October 1944 and the troops were attached with the HQ South Iraq Area.

The 40th Indian Infantry Brigade incorporated a number of regiments. These are listed below-
• Bikaner Sadul Light Infantry (September 1942 - May 1943)
• 25th Sikh Light Infantry (May 1943 - December 1943)
• 1st Indore Infantry (September 1942 - December 1942)
• 28/3rd Madras Regiment (December 1943 - October 1944)
• 26/12th Frontier Force Regiment (May 1943 - October 1944)
