Screen Awards for Best Playback Singer FemaleScreen Awards is a prestigious award ceremony which commemorates the film personalities of Hindi film industry for their professional eminence. The awards are presented under different categories by the film fraternity itself and the nominations and winners for the event are selected by a panel of jury members. Dedicated to Bollywood, the award ceremony was started in the year 1994 and is conducted every year since then. It also owns the credit of being the only award ceremony which has been attended by the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

20th Screen Awards
20th Screen Awards was held on 14th January 2014 and was aired on 25th January 2014 on Life Ok channel. It honoured the best films of the year 2013. The event was hosted by Shahrukh Khan. The 20th edition of Screen Awards witnessed a strong contest among the female playback singers of the industry who have rendered a distinct musical charm to the films. The nominations for Screen Awards for Best Playback Singer Female included Sona Mohapatra for `Ambarsariya` (Fukrey), Shalmali Kholgade for `Balam Pichkari` (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Monali Thakur for `Sawaar Loon` (Lootera), Chinmayi for `Titli` (Chennai Express) and Shreya Ghoshal for `Sunn Raha Hai` (Aashiqui 2). In the event Shreya Ghoshal walked away with the award.

Shreya Ghoshal is one of the eminent playback singers of Indian film industry who has received numerous awards and accolades for her enchanting renditions in Indian cinema, including four National Film Awards. Her musical career began with her victory in the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest. She has also sung a plethora of songs for Bengali film industry and has gained recognition as one of the most cherished singer of the country.
