Sadhana Sargam, Indian Playback SingerSadhana Sargam has been regarded as one amongst the top playback singers of Indian film industry. Her original name is Sadhana Ghanekar. She has also sung songs in a number of Indian languages. Sadhana Sargam has also received training in Indian classical music.

Sadhana Sargam was born to a Maharashtrian Chitpavan Bhramin family on 14th March. Her mother Mrs. Neelatai Ghanekar gave her the initial training in Indian classical music. Afterwards she fetched the honour of being trained by the legendary classicist Pandit Jasraj. Sadhana Sargam has performed in many live concerts and most of the time with A.R. Rahman. Apart from these, Sadhana Sargam along with other singers participated in a classical concert. Other than Hindustani classical music, Sadhana Sargam has also received plaudits because of her contribution to devotional music. `Pehla Nasha` from the film `Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar`, `Chupke Se` from the film `Saathiya`, and Snehidhane from the film `Alaipayuthey`, which is also the original version of `Chupke Se` in Tamil have been sung by her. Sadhna has recorded many songs in Hindi, Tamil, or Telugu songs with the music directors Ilayaraja and AR Rahman. Sadhana Sargam has also lent her voice in an international production `Warriors of Heaven and Earth`. She sang the song under the direction of AR Rahman.

Acknowledging her talent Sadhana Sargam has been conferred many accolades. Most importantly one of them is the Indian national award that was given to her as the best female playback singer in the year 2002 for a Tamil song "Pattu Solli" from the movie `Azhagi`, composed by Ilayaraja. By achieving this honour she has bagged the honour of being the only singer who is not from south India but won an Indian national award for singing a South Indian language song.
