IIFA Awards or International Indian Film Academy Awards is an esteemed award ceremony in which awards are presented by the International Indian Film Academy to the various film professionals of the Hindi film industry for commemorating their technical as well as artistic eminence. The year 2000 marks the inception of this event and since then it is organized at different places of the globe every year. Over years the event has provided a great platform to the Indian cinema for its promotion at the international level. The event continues for three days during which awards are presented under different categories to appreciate and encourage the works of film personalities in different cinematic arenas.
15th IIFA Awards
15th IIFA Award ceremony was organized from 23rd to 26th April 2014. It took place to honour the best films of the year 2013. The event was held at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, in the United States and was co-hosted by the Bollywood actors Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor. Bollywood films have always been known for their mesmerising melodies and the movies of 2013 exhibited the same essence. The music directors of Hindi film industry did an appreciable job by rendering soulful music to the films. The nomination for IIFA Awards for Best Music Director included Pritam Chakraborty for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Shankar Ehsaan Loy for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Jeet Ganguly for Aashiqui 2. In the 15th IIFA Award ceremony Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Jeet Ganguly won the award jointly for composing the music for the film Aashiqui 2.
