The background of the Indian movie Veer Zaara` is set against the conflict between India and Pakistan. This was the director Yash Chopra`s comeback project after eight long years. At first the name of the movie was decided as `Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum` but later the director himself changed the name and named it as `Veer Zaara` based on the name of the characters. This was a huge Bollywood hit of the year 2004 which also drawn a huge accolades at the international box office. This film is showcased at various important film festivals.

Plot of Film Veer Zaara:
Veer ZaaraThe whole story of the Indian movie, Veer-Zaara is told in flashback from Veer`s prison cell. Zaara Haayat Khan (Preity Zinta) is an independent, carefree, and enthusiastic young Pakistani girl travelling to India. She was carrying her "bebe`s", her old governess` ashes. Before dying, `Bebe` (Zohra Sehgal) begs Zaara to fulfill her final wish which was to take her ashes to India, to the holy Sikh city of Kiritpur. So she decides to carry out Bebe`s dying wish. During this journey to India Zaara`s bus gets into an accident, overturns, and she is saved by an Indian pilot, Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan). Finally with the help of Veer, Zaara completes her Bebe`s final rites. Veer requests Zaara to spend one night at his village before returning back to Pakistan. So with Zaara`s consent they enjoy a tour of India`s Punjab and then visit Veer`s hometown. The people are enjoying Lodi festival and in that festive mood they two fell in love. Veer is just waiting for the right time to tell Zaara how he feels about her. But then it is revealed that Zaara is engaged to another man, Raza (Manoj Bajpai). During their last few moments together, Veer confesses his love, then watches sadly as Zaara boards the train that will take her back to Pakistan. Both believe that this is the end of the story, and the last time they will ever see each other. Zaara eventually realizes that she loves Veer and cannot marry Raja. Veer, on the otherhand, after being told over the phone by Zara`s friend Shabbo, that Zara is also in love with Veer and now she is feeling miserable without him, quits from the Indian Air Force and goes to Pakistan to bring her back with him to India. Zaara`s mother, however, begs him to leave Zaara. All happened because of social and also political constrains. Zaara`s father is a high-profile politician whose reputation will be ruined if news fume that his daughter is in love with a Hindu man. Veer respects this and decides to leave. But Raja, Zaara`s fiancé, is very angry with the whole thing. out of jealousy he wrongly imprisoned Veer whilst bringing allegation against him for being an Indian spy.

This is the end of first part of the Indian movie, Veer Zaara. After 22 years, Veer meets Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), who is an idealistic Pakistani lawyer, whose mission in life is to pave the path for women`s empowerment. She has been given Veer`s case, the man has been in prison from a long time and has not spoken for the last 22 years. After a number of attempts which fail to prove Veer`s innocence at last Saamiya goes to Veer`s village in India to gather evidence so that she can prove that Veer is Veer and not `Rajesh Rathore` the spy. After visiting Veer`s place Saamiya finds that Zaara has taken over in the village for Veer`s parents. She is overwhelmed after seeing the love. Evantually she convinces Zaara to go back to Pakistan with her and finally tell the truth about Veer`s identity. Al last after all these the judge releases Veer from prison and apologizes on behalf of Pakistan. Veer and Zaara meets and their love gats a name at the last part of their life.

Cast and Crew of Veer Zaara:
The Indian movie, `Veer Zaara` has some prominent artists. Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta have the lead roles while Rani Mukherjii was in a special appearance. Some other important actors in different prominent roles were Amitabh Bachchan, Kirron Kher, Divya Dutta, Boman Irani, Manoj Bajpayee and Hema Malini. The director of the movie was Yash Chopra whereas the music of the movie is based on compositions by the late Madan Mohan. The fabulous lyrics were by Javed Akhtar and Lata Mangeshkar sang many powerful songs to take it to a height.

Awards for Veer Zaara :
The Indian movie `Veer Zaara`was nominated for fifteen film fare awards and finally won three out of them, it also won five IIFA awards. The film got national film award as `best popular film providing wholesome entertainment`. It has also won Stardust and Star screen Awards in the category of best female actor, best story, best actor and also best Jodi award of Shahrukh and Preity.
