Konkan Railways, with its headquarters at Navi Mumbai, is a traveller's delight. Reaching out into the Western Ghats this zone serves Mumbai, Karnataka and Goa. It is only train route that connects two port cities of Mumbai and Mangalore. The challenges to build a railway track were huge. But impressively enough this difficulty was overcome and it is an absolute treat to almost glide over the water bodies.
The Konkan Railways were restructured and opened to the public on 26th January, 1998. Adequate number of passenger trains and ferry trains ply on a regular basis in this zone. Trains, such as, Janshatabdi Express, Matsyaganda Express, Rajdhani Express, Konkankanya Express, Mangala Lakshadweep Express, Thiruvananthapuram Netravati Express and Garib Rath Express are a part of the railway services at Konkan Railways.
The work at Konkan Railways has been divided into several departments: accounts, information technology, human resource, administration, medical, mechanical and others. The stations have been well provided with several facilities for the passengers. Cloak rooms, retiring rooms, easy cancellation and reservation facilities, etc.
So whether one is attending the Goa food festival or visiting the Siddhivinayak temple, they can simply avail the services offered by the Konkan railways.
