Sandhyansa or Samdhyansa is a Sanskrit word derived from `sandhya` meaning a transition period, twilight or dawn and `ansa` means part.
Sandhyansa is a part of the transition period, the period of a Sandhya immediately following or preceding a yuga, and thus either a twilight or dawn. The Puranas mentions that sandhyansa is the last portion of a sandhi, the end of twilight. But this takes only one of the two main junction periods as standing for both, because the end of dawn would be a `sandhyansa` too.
