33rd Indian Infantry Brigade

The British Indian infantry formation of the 33rd Indian Infantry Brigade remained in active service from the year 1941 to 1945. The brigade was raised under British Government of India in October 1941 at Campbellpore in British India. It was formed for providing military service during the Second World War.

The brigade of the British Indian Army was attached to the 7th Indian Infantry Division in the initial stage. Afterwards it was assigned to the North Western Army in July 1942. Later in December 1942, it was again allotted to the 7th Indian Infantry Division. The troops of the 33rd Indian Infantry Brigade were stationed Burma and took part in the Burma Campaign in the South East Asian Theatre of World War II.

The infantry formation served as corps reserve for XXXIII Indian Corps from April 1944 to May 1944. Later in March 1945 it was assigned to the 5th Indian Infantry Division. Eventually the brigade was merged with the 7th Division and served under its command for the rest of the war.

• 2nd South Lancashire Regiment (February 1945)
• 2/8th Punjab Regiment (May 1945)
• 1/19th Hyderabad Regiment (May 1945)
