2nd Indian Armoured Brigade

2nd Indian Armoured Brigade was an erstwhile military formation that functioned under British Indian Army. It was raised in September 1939 as the 3rd Indian Cavalry Brigade.

The 2nd Indian Armoured Brigade was an erstwhile military formation that functioned under British Indian Army. It remained in existence from 1939 till 1945. The armoured brigade was raised in September 1939 as the 3rd Indian Cavalry Brigade by the British Empire in India. However, in the following year it was mechanized and in February 1940 it was re-designated as the 2nd Indian Armoured Brigade. In January 1942, the military formation was assigned to the 10th Indian Infantry Division and was renamed as the 252nd Indian Armoured Brigade.

Later the troops were sent to the Middle East and provided service along with the 31st Indian Armoured Division. The brigade was designated as the 2nd Armoured Brigade in October 1945.

* 14th Prince of Wales`s Own Cavalry
