Obesity or the accumulation of fat or excessive fleshiness as it has been termed is certainly a situation demanding immediate attention. Obesity has therefore a negative impact on life and of course on quality of life in both a physical as well as psychological context. Undoubtedly, overeating is held as a primary cause of obesity. Eating habit, eating more food than necessary and certainly consuming foods, which are high in calories, are said to be the reasons of obesity. Modern research shows that even the amount of times one eats in a day has the capability to influence obesity. Addressing obesity and treating obesity is therefore the need of the hour.

Treatment of Obesity By Nature Cure
Diet for ObesityDiet: The diet of obese patients must be a low calorie one and they are also advised to adopt the life style full of physical work and exercises. Here is a diet regimen to be followed by the obese people, where the patients half stomach should be filled with food, 1/4 with water and 1/4 part should remain empty. By increasing the quantity of a simple diet comprising of raw salad, sprouted cereals, fruits and green vegetables in meal, one can make it a diet of low caloric value. Also one should avoid excessive intake of sugar, sweets, oily and fried food items, non-vegetarian food, milk and milk products and food prepared with refined flour/maida.

" The patient of obesity should keep on fast for three days and intake only water mixed with lemon juice about 3 to 4 times in a day.

" Daily cleansing the bowel with lemon water enema is also beneficial. " Practice of taking lukewarm water mixed with lemon juice and honey in the morning is also helpful in reducing weight.

" After three days of fasting, he may restrict his diet to one time Dalia and one-time fruits, boiled vegetable for a week. After which, he may gradually come to the diet of whole wheat bread and green vegetables for more for fifteen days.

Jogging - Exercise for ObesityExercises: Brisk walk is necessary for obesity patients along with light running or jogging. Even swimming is also helpful in reducing the weight. The regular practice of Hipbath along with the Mudpack, lemon water enema and Steam bath once or twice a week seem to be especially effective in reducing weight.

Treatment of Obesity by Yogic Asanas: Shudhhikriyas: Kunjala, Vaman Dhauti/Danda Dhauti, Neti, Agnisara Kriya, Laghoo/Purna Shankhaprakshalana (Once a week / month), Kapalbhati and Baghi Kriya should also be practised. Even Shankha Prakshalana should be practised once a month for first three months.

Pranayama: Anuloma Viloma, Bhastrika Pranayama, Ujjayi, Suryabhedan (10 times or more rounds) along with Om Recitation about 10 times should be practised.

Asanas: Tadasana, Ardha-halasana, Sarvangasana, Vipritakarani, Vakrasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, Shalabhasana, Dhanurasana, Ardha-matsyendrasana, Yoga Mudra (in Vajrasana), Chakrasana (Side bending), Padahastasana, Naukasana (Prone & Supine), Shavasana, Katichakrasana, Pada Hastasana, Sarvangasana, Halasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Pashchimottanasana, Matsyasana, Ardha-Matsyendrasana and Ushtrasana should also be practised along with Surya Namaskara.

The practice of Udara Shakti and Kati Shakti Vikasaka exercises of Sukshama Vyayama and Sarvanga Pushti and Engine Race of Sthula Vyayama are also highly efficacious.

Treatment of Obesity by Magnetic Therapy
The magnets should be applied to the palms of hands for 20 minutes daily in the morning. In addition, the magnets should be applied bilaterally about 10 cm above the navel for 20 minutes daily in the evening. Mixed magnetized water should be taken four times daily.
