Mandi, the beautiful town of Himachal Pradesh houses the pagoda style monastery of Rewalsar. Rewalsar is considered as the most important place for the Buddhists. It was from here only that Padmasambhava set out to spread his religion in the land of Tibet. The dharma spread by him came to be known as Lamaism. The monastery is located on the edge of the Rewalsar Lake. The spirit of Padmasambhava is believed to inhabit the island in the Rewalsar Lake. Murals in mixed Indo Chinese style are found inside of the monastery.
