Himayat Sagar is located in Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is located at a distance of twenty kilometers from Hyderabad. This reservoir on the Musi River was finished in 1927.The Himayat Sagar lies parallel to the Osman Sagar Lake. The lake was named after the youngest son of the seventh Nizam, Himayat Ali Khan and is an ideal picnic spot. The grassy area bordering the lake enhances the beauty of the lake.
The Himayat Sagar along with the Osman Sagar provides drinking water to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
