Zafar Ali Khan, also known as Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, was an Indian Politician, journalist, writer and poet from British dominated India. He contributed to the Indian freedom struggle.

He was one of the most renowned Indian politicians who fought against the administration of the British Government of India and significantly contributed to the Indian freedom struggle. Zafar Ali Khan was amongst the eminent leaders of the Majlis E Ahrar Ul Islam, also known as Majlis E Ahrar E Islam or simply as Ahrar, was an Indian conservative Sunni Muslim political party that existed during the rule of the British Empire in India. The party played a significant role in the Indian political scenario before to the Partition of India. Mirza also played a significant role in the Pakistan Movement. He also contributed significantly in the Pakistan Movement against the British administration.

Early Life of Zafar Ali Khan
Zafar Ali Khan was born in the year 1873 at Kot Mehrath, Sialkot in Punjab in undivided British Dominated India. He belonged to a Janjua family. He completed his education from Mission High School, Wazirabad in the district of Gujranwala District. Later he completed his graduation from Aligarh Muslim University.

Political Career of Zafar Ali Khan
After the completion of his education, Zafar Ali Khan was appointed as the secretary to Mohsin Ul Mulk, a prominent Indian Muslim politician. Later he worked as a translator in Hyderabad for a brief period and was eventually promoted to the ranks of Secretary, Home Department. Khan came back from Hyderabad and launched his daily Zamindar from Lahore that was established by Maulvi Sirajuddin Ahmad, who was his father. Later he became a member of the Majlis E Ahrar Ul Islam, also known as Majlis E Ahrar E Islam or simply as Ahrar, which was an Indian conservative Sunni Muslim political party. Zafar Ali Khan was appointed as one of the most prominent leaders of the Ahrar Party.

Compositions of Zafar Ali Khan
Zafar Ali Khan wrote and published several political and religious poems. He was specifically versed in extemporaneous compositions. Some of his most well known compositions include Chamanistan, Nigaristan and Baharistan. He created other popular poetical compositions as well like Marka E Mazhab O Science, Ghalba E Rum, Sayr E Zulmet and also an opera Jang E Roos O Japan.

Zafar Ali Khan died in the year 1956 in Lahore, Punjab in Pakistan.
