Vasanta Habba or spring festival as per Kannada language is a cultural festival which is organised in Bangalore, Andhra Pradesh, by the efforts of the Nrityagram Foundation. The first Vasanta Habba was conducted during 1990, thanks to Protima Bedi, the founder of Nrityagram. Dexterous dancers, artists and musicians deliver live performances at the official venue of Vasanta Habba, which is Nrityagram at Hesaraghatta. This place is existent outside Bangalore. In the first year of its organisation, the average footfall at the event was nearly 3000 and it ultimately rose to more than 4000 in the year 2003.
This festival continues throughout the night, lasting till the early hours of the morning, next day. Hesaraghatta is present at a distance of nearly 35 kms away from Bangalore. One can easily enter Vasanta Habba without tickets and seats are available on a first-come procedure. The event harbours much publicity, particularly through the performances of folk artists and troupes on the roads of the city of Bangalore. The event is held with the aide of some volunteers who belong to various colleges and other educational institutes scattered across this city. Cars are offered to the numerous artists and performers of the cultural event and different food stalls are sponsored at the event. The chief amphitheatre of Vasanta Habba is capable of accommodating about 3, 000 people. Large screens are existent for the benefit of the assembled audience many of who do not get an opportunity to view the programme seated on chairs.
