Plot of Traffic Signal
Madhur Bhandarkar"s movies always take an unconventional theme and portray it on the big screen, which creates awareness and makes the audience question the society that they exist in. The 2007 movie Traffic Signal is no different that takes a harsh look at the streets of Mumbai. The movie provides a grim look at one specific traffic signal, where the people are desperate to put their hands on whatever they can receive to survive. Here, there are beggars, harlots, tricksters, eunuchs and others who sell clothes, flowers and trinkets.

Traffic Signal, Indian MovieSilsila played by Kunal Khemu, is a local goon who runs the traffic signal and gets a weekly percentage from everyone. He reports to a mid-level don, Jaffar, who in turn reports to the big boss Haji bhaijaan played by Sudhir Mishra. Neetu Chandra"s character Rani is the new girl who has come to Mumbai to sell ethnic clothes. In the movie, her character is likeable and natural. Konkona Sen Sharma"s acting in this movie is critically acclaimed as she plays the character of the local harlot named Noorie. Ranvir Shorey as Dominic truly excels as a drug addict who pretends to lose his wallet every day to scam people out of money.

The main climax of the movie unfolds when Silsila is implicated in the destruction of the traffic signal and is apprehended for murder, bribery and extortion. All the people who grow along with the traffic signal come to extinction. Silsila is forced to choose between his life and his profession. The ending of the movie is abrupt and has no certain resolution like the hero defeating the bad guys.
