Tiruchattamangai ayavanteeswarar Temple is 81st in the series of Tevara Stalams located south of the river Kaveri. Brahma worshipped Shiva here, hence the name Ayavanti. The large Brahma Theertham tank is located outside the temple. The Chola king Karikalan built this temple.This temple covers an area of an acre. The entrance has a five-tiered Rajagopuram. There are two prakarams featuring the various gods. The outer walls of the temple are majestic. The inner sanctum is built in black stone. The Ardhanareeswarar image is to the North of the sanctum.Aavani Moolam (month of Leo) has a lot of festivities here.
