Temples of Ramanagram District

In Karnataka, the temples of Ramanagram district are considered to be the tourist attractions and also pilgrimage of great reverence. Ramanagara is a nestled valley amidst the Sri Revanna Sideshwara hills. Temples of Ramanagram district are set amidst lush greenery and vegetation.

The present town of the Ramanagram district has an Agrahara on the left bank of the Arkavati with a temple of Arkeshwara built in later Vijayanagara style. Krishnaraja Wodeyar III renovated the temple. It is facing west, has a Garbhagriha, a spacious Navaranga, and has an inner Prakara. The Linga was reinstalled about four years ago. The annual Jatra is held on Phalguna Shuddha Poornima. More than 2,000 people assemble during this jatra. Beside this temple, to the left, is the Prasannambadevi shrine and to the right is another small shrine of Venugopalaswamy. The temples of Ramanagram district are locally very famous and seats of various religious rituals.
