Sita Mai TempleThe Sita Mai Temple situated in the village Sitamai in the Karnal district of Haryana, is an ancient temple dedicated to goddess Sita. The whole shrine is built of bricks. According to the popular belief, this is the place where the earth parted and goddess Sita entered. In the Medieval Period, the Muslim invaders destroyed the temple and the bricks were thrown into a tank.

Architecturally, elaborate ornamentation covers the whole shrine. Deep lines in the individual bricks form the pattern of the shrine.
