Shri Ganpati Devasthan is located in Sangli. It is the tutelary deity of Sangli. Thorle (elder) Chintamanrao Patwardhan sanctified the idol in 1843. Skilled craftsmen built Shri Ganpati Devasthan with black stone brought from Jyotiba Hills. There is a platform, a hall and a `Nagarkhana` inside vast acres of the temple. The entrance doorway has been carved out of different coloured natural wood. The idol of Ganpati is made of copper. It is kept in such a way that it is visible from any part of the Ganpati Peth. When the rays of the setting sun fall on the face of the Ganpati, it looks as if shining in glory. Ganpati festival is celebrated with great religious fervour and faith for five days from Bhadrapad Shuddha Chaturthi. Ganesha is also known as Ekadanta and Vinayaka.
