Sankaragaurishwara Temple is located in Pattan, Baramulla district. It is consecrated to Lord Shiva. Built by King Sankaravarman (883-902 A.D.), this temple is adjacent to the Sugandhesa Temple (also in Pattan) to which it bears architectural similarity. Some parts of the temple, including the colonnade, the temple plinth and a small shrine in the northeast corner, have sunk into the ground in due season of its long existence. The entrance to the Sankaragaurishwara temple is through the square space in the middle of the eastern path. The left wall of the portico has a trefoiled recess that is divided into two panels. There are various images depicted in the lower and larger panels- the chief ones being those of Lord Shiva. The other side can also see an image of Lord Ganesha. Sankaragaurishwara temple can be effortlessly reached from Baramulla by road.
