An alternative to flats is the housing system. Certain people prefer to live in a separate open place surround with gardens, lawns and plantations. Twin, Row and Group Housing are available at reasonable price ranges and hence they can be purchased by common men. The builder, who builds flats, twin or group houses is mainly a profiteer. He constructs two or more than two houses in one plot only. These houses have certain things in common to all the flats like, the well (bore), septic tank, underground water tank, staircase, walls, compound and others.
When the builder constructs in this fashion the expenditure decreases while his profit increases. But the purchaser of twin houses suffer a loss due to inconveniences arising from common things. The twin houses have common walls or compound. The East and the North are auspicious so more open space is generally kept in the plot towards this direction. Out of the twin houses, one gets the full profit of this open space, while the other gets limited profit.
Primarily there are four kinds of twin houses:-
