Rasalgad Fort

Rasalgad Fort is located in Maharashtra. In 2003, the fort has been declared as protected monument by Archaeological Survey of India. The fort is still in good condition.

Rasalgad Fort, MaharashtraRasalgad Fort is located 15 km away from Khed city in Maharashtra. In 2003, the fort has been declared as protected monument by Archaeological Survey of India. Earlier it was controlled by Morey clan of Javil, from whom Shivaji Maharaj captured the fort. Then in 1818, British Empire captured it from the Peshwas. The fort is constructed on a land of 5 acres with two entrances, which are in good condition. There is a Veer Maruti idol near the first gate. There is a Zolayidevi temple on the fort with a stone Deepmala and Tulsi Vrindavan in the front. Apart from that, there are two large rock cut water cisterns, 16 cannons and a storeroom in the fort campus.

Khed Railway Station and Lohegaon Airport are the nearest to reach the fort. National Highway 53 connects Khed to other parts of the country.
