Rani Ji Ki Baori, also known as "Queen"s stepwell", is a popular stepwell in Bundi town of Rajasthan. It was built in the year 1699 by Rani Nathavati Ji. She was the younger queen of Rao Raja Anirudh Singh, who was the ruler of Bundi that time.
History of Rani Ji Ki Baori
Rani Nathavati Ji was the second wife of Raja Anirudh Singh. She gave birth to a son, Maharao Raja Budh Singh. But the previous wife of the king was unable to give birth to a baby. Thus, Rani Nathavati gave her son to the previous queen and devoted herself for the well being of the common man of Baori. This is the reason she took the initiative of constructing the stepwell.
Architecture of Rani Ji Ki Baori
Rani Ji Ki Baori is 46 meters deep stepped well with astounding carvings on the pillars and the high arched gate. This well is a multi storied structure with places for worshipping on each floor. The entrance of the well is narrow and marked by four pillars. Stone elephant statues facing each other are kept in the corners. All the archways of the stepwell are decorated with ogee brackets.

Kota Railway Station and Sanganer Airport in Jaipur are the convenient ways to reach Rani Ji Ki Baori. National Highway 27 connects it to the city of Bundi. The city is 206 km away from Jaipur and 36 km from Kota.
