Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary is located about 47 kms away from Rajkot city, Gujarat and is spread over an area of about 15 square kilometres. It was declared a sanctuary in the year 1988 and boasts of fragments of hills surrounding the borders of the dry plains filled with shrubs and wild grasses. Much earlier, in the year 1983, this sanctuary had been declared a `Reserve Forest`. Prior to this, in the year 1975 the sanctuary acted as a shooting reserve and was a part of the princely state of Wankaner which is also referred to as Central Gujarat. Visitors will discover more than 280 species of plants, over 20 species of mammals and above 130 species of birds are existent in Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary. Besides these, several species of reptiles also reside in the grounds of this sanctuary. Two gushing streams of water in the sanctuary serve to relieve the thirst of the local wildlife.

Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary is home to over 280 species of plants which consists of Kesudu, Gorad, Desi Baval, Hermo, Khakhro, Dudhalo, Khapat, Bor and many others.
Fauna of Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary
Mammoth Antelope can be observed, roaming freely in large quantities inside the Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary and are quite attractive due to their thick layer of furry coat and slender body. Some of the other wild animals of Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary include Common Fox, Jackal, Bluebull, Hyena, Wolf, etc. This sanctuary also provides shelter to various birds like Purple Sunbird, Partridge, Large Grey Babbler, Yellow-Throated Sparrow, Common Peafowl, Sandgrouse, Ring Dove and others. Visitors might encounter a beautiful Nilgai or Bluebull staring at them with their eyes filled with utter amazement.
