Rajmachi or Udhewadi is one of the most important tourist destinations in Maharashtra. It is a small village located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Konkan region of Maharashtra.

Agriculture is the main occupation of this village. It is also called Udhewadi and is famous for trekking.

Location of Rajmachi
Rajmachi is situated in Satara District. It is a small village located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It is a very famous place located near two famous hills of Maharashtra, Lonavla and Khandala. It is situated about 15 kilometres from the hill station of Lonavala in Maharashtra.

History of Rajmachi
Rajmachi is also famous for its forts built during 17th century by Emperor Shivaji in 1657. The Satavahanas also contributed a lot to Rajmachi. It had witnessed the reign of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1704, Marathas 1705 and in 1713 and the British Empire in 1818.

Things to do in Rajmachi
Rajmachi peak has two fortified structures - the Shrivardhan fort and Manaranjan fort. Rajmachi Fort is famous place for trekking. The beautiful place has exotic natural locations as well as it is a historic site. Kalbhairavnath Temple of Rajmachi is also very famous and there is some space that is used as a campsite. Just opposite to Kalbhairavnath Temple, there is a fort called Shreevardhan Fort of Maharashtra. The fort has lots of secret tunnels leading to battlements. There is a place called Manranjan behind the temple that gives one a nice view of the plains. The trekkers who want to explore the area can go to the base of "Manranjan" where there are some simple rock-cut caves. The major attractions of the fort are the two water tanks hovering on the top of the hill.

Rajmachi also has other historical monuments such as walls, ramparts and gateways, housing quarters, a big water reservoir constructed about 200 years ago, antique Shiva temples and idols along with directorial offices of British generals. On the western side of the Rajmachi plateau, travellers can find the Buddhist caves, which are also recognized as Kondhane caves. These were carved in nearly about 200 BC and have stood ever since in beauty and style.

Visiting Information of Rajmachi
Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai) is the nearest airport to Rajmachi, which is situated at a distance of 83 kilometres. Lonavala is the nearest railway station situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from Rajmachi Village. Travellers can also trek to Rajmachi from Kondiwade which is approximately 3 hours of trekking. The track goes around the hill and leads to a grassy plateau with amazing view of Ulhas valley. The Rajmachi village is at a distance of 3 hours from here.
