Priyadarshan is one of the prominent Indian directors. He has delivered several hit movies in Malayalam during1980s and 1990s. In Bollywood, he is best known for the comedy films. He has directed over 80 films in different Indian languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. He is the first director of India to introduce rich colour grading, clear sound and quality dubbing through his early Malayalam films. In 2009 his film Kanchivaram won the National Film Award for Best Film.
Early life of Priyadarshan
This immensely talented person was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He did his schooling from Government Model School and gained an M.A. in Psychology from University College, Thiruvananthapuram.
Career of Priyadarshan
In the year 1988 Priyadarshan directed his first movie Vellanakalude Nadu. Then he made Aryan. His Chithram released in 1988.
His first film for Bollywood was Muskurahat (1993) which was a remake of Malayalam film Kilukkam. The film starred Amrish Puri, Revathy and others. The film did not do well at the box office. His first successful Hindi film was Gardish, again a remake of the Malayalam film Kireedam (1989).
He later came up with strings of Bollywood films that were remakes of Malayalam films: Viraasat, Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiya and others.
The films of Priyadarshan are known for their wit, humour, exotic visuals and impressive music. His technical team mainly comprises of N. Gopalakrishnan (editor), S. Kumar (cinematography) and Sabu Cyril (art director).
