Pisola Fort

Pisola Fort is a fort located in the Taharabad taluka, Nashik district of Maharashtra. This is an important fort in Nashik district and one of the most beautiful forts in the region. Presently, the fort is in ruins and is under the control of the State Government. As it is located at an elevation of about 3500 feet, it makes for a perfect trekking destination amongst trekkers. This fort is easy to climb but it is less visited by trekkers as it requires one hour to reach the fort.

History of Pisola Fort
Surrounded by farm fields and green vegetation, the fort has history dating back to several centuries. Even though its exact time of formation is still unknown, it is said to have been established during the Medieval Period of India and since then, it has been a significant place in the state.

Structure of Pisola Fort
The only structure in good condition is a small mosque on the western edge of the Pisola Fort. The rock-cut arch-gate of the pleasure palace of Rang Mahal stands in good condition with all its walls fallen to ruins. There are two rock-cut water cisterns on the scarp near the entrance with rock-cut figures of Nandi Bull and Lingams.

Visiting Information of Pisola Fort
The base village of the fort is Wadi Pisola which is 35 km from Satana. The nearest town is Satana which is 90 km from Nashik. The trekking path to Pisola Fort starts from the west hillock of the village. The route is very safe and passes through dense scrub. A narrow path along a small ravine leads to the rock-cut steps. The nearest airport as well as the railway station to the fort is located in Nashik at a distance of about 125 km.
