Pilgrimage Tourism in Nalbari District is popular owing to a number of ancient temples, celebrations of religious fairs and festivals and various intriguing legends and myths associated with them. Hari Mandir
Hari Mandir was established in the year 1965. Lord Krishna is the presiding deity of the temple. Rambahadur Pratap Narayan Choudhury granted a portion of his land for the construction of this temple whereas Lt. Damahuram Mahajan provided financial aid for building the Puja Mandap. Since 1946, Ras festival is celebrated every year in the temple. The grandeur of this festival attracts a number of devotees and tourists from distant places.
Billeswar Temple
Billeswar Temple is an ancient temple of the district built about 500 years ago. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is also associated with legends. The legend says that once the cow of a priest milked only on the bush of "virina" which is a type of grass. Knowing about the incident, the King ordered to dug the place and found a `Shiva linga` at the site. The temple was then built over the spot and named as Billeswar temple. The temple has, since ancient past, attracted a number of devotees.
Buddhist Temple
Buddhist temple was build by Nepali people about 60 years ago. On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, a great fair in held in the temple every year.
Shripur Dewalay Mandir
Shripur Dewalay Mandir is another ancient temple of the district constructed by Sib Singha, an Ahom King. Legends say that a part of the body of Sati or Parvati fell in this place. Durga Puja and Kali Puja are celebrated with great grandeur in the temple by tribal and Assamese people.
Daulashal Temple
Daulashal Temple is located in Daulashal village. Lord Krishna and his brother Balaram are the presiding deities of the temple. This ancient temple has witnessed many historical events of the state of Assam.
Shri Shri Durga and Kali Mandir
The 200 years old temple is situated at Purna Sripur. Grand celebrations of Durga Puja and Kali Puja are held in the temple every year.
Bagheswari Dewbahar Guri Devalay
It is located at Adabari. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and attracts a number of pilgrims.
Ballilecha Shree Shree Kali Devala
The temple stands at Ballilesha village and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. It was constructed by Sib Singha, the Ahom King. In 1897, a devastating earthquake hit the district and destroyed many idols of the temple.
Other Temples of Nalbari District
Other temples of the district are Jaypal Than, Shiva Mandir, Nagrijuli, Kalbhairabi Lingaraj Mandir, Basudeb Devalay and Thetha Gohain.
