Parishista was intended to convey the general information regarding their religion. Parishista marks the transition from the Vedas to the Indian Puranas. It basically deals with the details covered in the texts logically and chronologically prior to the Upanishads.
Rig Veda
Asvalayana Grihya Parishista is a text associated with the Rig-Veda. It has three chapters that deal with domestic rites such as the marriage.
Sama Veda
Gobhila Grihya Parishista is dedicated to Gobhilaputra that has two chapters. It deals with sacrificial rituals, the rules and measurements for fire sticks, preparation of the sacrificial ground and various offerings. The Chandogya Parishista has similar descriptions.
Yajur Veda
The Katiya Parishista is ascribed to Katyayana. There are three Parishistas to Krsna Yajurveda. They are: The Apastamba Hautra Parishista specifies the duties of the priest in haviryajnas, the Varaha Srauta Sutra Parishista and the Katyayana Srauta Sutra Parishista.
Atharva Veda
The Atharvaveda has an extensive Parishista. It has 72 distinctly named Parishistas.
