Close to the Amber Fort, the Panna Meena ka Kund is a stepwell located in Jaipur, the capital city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Built during the 16th century under the reign of Maharaja Jai Singh, the stepwell is about 450 years old and was mainly used for social gatherings.
Aesthetically pleasing, built with pastel shaded plaster, the Panna Meena ka Kund is known for its beautiful Indian architecture. The symmetric arrangement of the stepwell"s staircases, the recessed doorways and the octagonal gazebos are a sight to behold. The main purpose of constructing this stepwell was to collect rainwater during the time of monsoon that would be preserved for drier months. After its restoration, the Panna Meena ka Kund is now one of the popular tourist attractions in Jaipur.
