Pandanainallur Temple

Pandanainallur Temple is considered to be the 35th in the series of the Tevara Stalams located in Chola Nadu north of the river Kaveri.

Legend: Shiva angered by Parvati`s indifference to him, in the middle of a ball game with Lakshmi and Saraswati, cursed her to become a cow; she was relieved of this curse upon worship here. Kamadhenu, Indra and Vaali worshipped here.

Temple: The remains of a fort and a moat testify to the grandeur of the original construction. A seven-tiered Rajagopuram sits atop the entrance of the temple. The Suryapushkarini tank has a central mandapam and is located within the temple. The Mahamandapam is in the outer prakaram with the Ambal and Natarajar shrines. The Ambal shrine faces the North, as Parvati faced the Northern direction while meditating. The Kalyanamandapam is in the inner prakaram and has a shrine to Kalyanasundarar. There is a shrine to Sattainathar next to the Dakshinamurthy shrine. The Navagrahams are found here in a straight line unlike in other temples. There is a temple here dedicated to Adikesava Perumaal and there is a Chitrambalam shrine having images of Natanapureeswarar and Soundarambikai

Festivals: The annual Bhrammotsavam is celebrated in the month of Maasi.
