Mandakini, Bollywood ActressMandakini is a popular Bollywood actress, who is best remembered for her role in the film "Ram Teri Ganga Mail" in the year 1985. Apart from that Mandakini has worked in several Bollywood movies some of which are "Deshwasi", "Dushman", "Pyar Ke Naam Qurbaan", "Naya Khoon", Ladaai, "Na-Insaafi", "Param Dharam" etc. Apart from that, she has also done some of the Bengali films with Mithun Chakraborty and Tapas Paul and some Telugu Movies.

Early Life of Mandakini
Mandakini was born on 30th July 1963 in an Anglo Indian family in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh as Yasmeen Joseph. Her father Joseph was British and her mother was Muslim.

Mandakini"s career started with Ranjit Virk who changed her name to Madhuri and singed her up for the film "Mazloom". But before the film, Raj Kapoor discovered her at the age of 22 years and cast her in the lead role of "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" in the year 1985 with the screen name Mandakini. She acted in this film opposite his son Rajiv Kapoor. The film was a big hit and it made her earn Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. After that, she has done some other films like "Dance Dance" with Mithun Chakraborty, "Kahan Hai Kanoon" with Aditya Pancholi and "Pyaar Karke Dekho" with Govinda. After 1996 "Zordaar" she quit signing movies and started to live in Mumbai with her husband and children. After that she tried to do a comeback and released two pop music albums "No Vacancy" and "Shambala" but they did not work out. Currently, she runs Tibetan yoga classes and is a follower of the Dalai Lama. She also runs a Tibetan medicine center with her husband, which is commonly known as the Tibetan Herbal Center in the area.

Personal Life of Mandakini
Mandakini got married in the year 1990 to a former Buddhist monk Dr. Kagyur T. Rinpoche Thakur. He gained popularity in his childhood when got featured in Murphy Radio advertisements from 1970 to 1980. The couple has a son named Rabbil and a daughter Rabze Innaya Thakur.
