Tapas Pal is a Bengali actor who hails from Kolkata. He is a Member of Parliament and a member of Trinamool Congress party.

Tapas Pal, Bengali Cinema ActorTapas Pal is a Bengali actor born in Kolkata to the famous physician Dr. Pal of Chandannagar. Tapas Pal was born in the year 1958 and completed the degree of Bachelors of Science from Hooghly Mohsin College. He was the first in his family to begin a film career that had risen to a grand height of success. Tapas Pal`s first movie appearance was in 1980, in the famous film "Dadar Kirti". He shared his screen presence with a great actress Debasree Roy, and was also the debut actress during that time. Tarun Majumder directed "Dadar Kirti", and the film became an instant hit. Tapas Pal was awarded with a Filmfare Award for his character play as "Saheb". His performance in this film brought him all the name and fame. Since then Tapas has acted in many films in lead role. Tapas Pal also received BFJA award for his critical role in the film `Saheb`. Tapas Pal has worked in commercial theatre and in Hindi films too.

Within few years he became a superstar in the Bengali film media and went on to act in many other super hit movies such as "Bhalobasha Bhalobasha" and "Guru Dakshina". The debut film of Madhuri Dixit was with Tapas Pal in the movie "Abodh". Tapas Pal has been seen in several T.V serials also. So far Tapas Pal has acted in over 300 movies in his 26-year successful film career.

Tapas Pal is still considered as one of the most commercially successful actors of Bengal of this era. In 1984, he got married and has a daughter who is an upcoming actress in Tollywood too

Tapas Pal was best known for playing the role of romantic hero in several movies. His romantic films include Saheb (1981), Baidurya Rahasya (1985), Anurager Choya, Gurudakshina (1987), Mondo Meyer Upakhan (2002), Uttara (2000) and many more. Recently he acted in Sedin Dekha Hoyechhilo.

Tapas Pal is deeply interested and involved in yatras and Group Theatre and has traveled abroad extensively. Presently, he is an active politician of All India Trinamul Congress and a social activist.
