Nirguna Brahman

Nirguna Brahman aspect in Hindu philosophy signifies that the Brahman without form pervades the Universe. As per Adi Shankaracharya nirguna brahman is same as the supreme personality, God, whatever qualities are attribute to him. Through Maya the supreme lord humorously creates multiple worlds and deceives all beings, who are not different from Him. The real self is not affected by it. The lord appears time and again in order to show the path of liberation. His body is preternatural. One can worship Him as one`s own self or as separate from oneself.

In Vaishnavism, Ramanuja, Madhvacharya, Chaitanya differ from the views of Shankara. They feel that it involves multiple levels of reality and lacks the scriptural support of Vedanta Sutra. Schools of Vaishnavism consider that god possess infinite attributes and is unconditional as well as is the source of the impersonal Nirguna Brahman.

Nirguna Brahman has no attributes and thus it is not an object of prayer but of meditation and knowledge. This aspect is beyond conception, reasoning and thought. The Ultimate Truth is Nirguna Brahman or God without form or personal attributes. In the Vedas this aspect of God is described by the sages as `neti-neti` or `not this, not that`. Nirguna Brahman is similar to Parabrahman. The higher aspect of God is called Nirguna Brahman
