The major monuments of Faizabad are Fort Calcutta, Mausoleum of Bahu Begum, Muasoleum of Shuja-ud-daulah and Moti Mahal. Fort Calcutta was constructed by Shuja-ud-daulah after he suffered defeat at the hands of the British, in the Battle of Buxar in 1764. Fort Calcutta is a massive structure of clay rampants.

The Mausoleum of Bahu Begum was constructed in the year 1816. The Mausoleum of Bahu Begum was made of white marbles. The Gulab Bari or Mausoleum of Shuja-ud-Daula lies about 2 to 4 km away. In form and outline it resembles that of the Begum, but with three simple tombstones on the ground storey, that in the centre being the tomb of the Nawab. His mother lies to the west, his father to the cast. The mosque on the edge of the compound and the imambara to the south are both of similar date.

The Mughal Rulers are known for their popular works of architecture in the city of Faizabad. Some of the monuments in Faizabad also represent the architectural styles which the Mughal rulers had inherited from their predecessors. In fact the city with its style of architecture replicates the Nawabi culture of the Mughal era.
