Mongupethanpatty is located in Dindigul District in Tamil Nadu. In the 17th century the village was under the Nayak rulers and later it was occupied by Hyder Ali.

Mongupethanpatty is located in Dindigul District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a small village situated near Eriyodu in Vedasandur taluk. The town has an average elevation of 260 meters above sea level. The significant tourist spots located near to the village are Palani, Kodaikanal and Sirumalai.

History of Mongupethanpatty
According to history Mongupethanpatty remained under the Nayak rulers during 17th century. Later during the 18th century Hyder Ali occupied the village. In the year 1985 the village was withdrawn from Madurai District. It was then united with Dindigul district.

Economy of Mongupethanpatty
Agriculture had been the main source of income till the 90`s in Mongupethanpatty. However, after a major drought in 2000 majority of the population shifted to other towns and cities such as Kerala, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and others. The village has almost 150 families.

Mongupethanpatty is under the Vedasandur legislative assembly. It comes under ward number 1 in the village panchayat Chitthur, Vedasandur Block, Dindigul District. Mongupethanpatty is under the Karur Lok Sabha constituency.

The village is at a distance of 25 kms from Dindigul, 60 kms away from Karur and Palani, 100 kms away from Trichy and 75 kms from Madurai. The nearest railway station is the Dindigul Junction Railway Station. The nearest airport is located at Madurai.
