Melaselvanoor Keelaselvanoor Bird Sanctuary, Tamil NaduMelaselvanoor Keelaselvanoor Bird Sanctuary located near Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu is home to various migratory birds. In the year 1998 it was declared as a sanctuary. It is spread over an area of 593.08 ha. This is the biggest bird sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The sanctuary is a part of Melaselvanoor and Keelaselvanoor villages of Kadaladi taluk of Ramanathapuram district.

Melselvanur Keelselvanur Bird Sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. Majority of the area is essentially covered with prosopis thickets. Babul trees along with tamarind trees can also be found here. The Acacia nilotica plantation situated here serves as a nesting site for many migratory birds like Pelicans, Painted Storks, Open billed Storks, White ibis, Spoon bills and Egrets.

Melselvanur Keelselvanur Bird Sanctuary is well connected with all modes of transport. By road the sanctuary can be approached from Madurai that is 130 kms. The nearest towns are Sayalkudi that is 12 Kms away, Kadaladi located at a distance of 15 Kms, Mudukulathur at a distance of 27 Kms and Ramanathapuram that is 45 Kms away. The nearest railway station is at Ramanathapuram at a distance of 45 Km. The nearest Air port is in Madurai.
