Melagaram is a ‘panchayat town’, located in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

Melagaram is a "panchayat town" in Tenkasi taluk, Tirunelveli district, in Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 4 kilometres away from Tenkasi and situated in the northwest of Tirunelveli at a distance of 51 kilometres. Tamil, Malayalam, Saurastra, English, Telugu and Hindi are the local languages of Melagaram.

According to 2001cencus, Melagaram had a population of 12,860 where males constituted 49 percent of the population and females 51percent Melagaram had an average literacy rate of 78 percent higher than the national average of 59.5 percent in which male literacy was 84 percent and female literacy was 72 percent. In Melagaram, 9 percent of the population was under 6 years of age. By the 2011 census, the town had developed to 14,644 residents.

The other attractions around Melagaram are Ilanji known for Kumarar Koyil, Kuttalam famous for waterfalls and Viswanatha Temple at Tenkasi.
