Mallalli Falls, Kodagu District, KarnatakaMallalli Falls, one of the prominent tourist destinations for nature lovers, is situated in the northern region of Kodagu District of Karnataka. Kodagu District in Karnataka is covered by lush green forest. This region is ideal area for agriculture. Agriculture is the pillar of this district`s economy. In Kodagu district, coffee plantations, or ragi patch, or the park like open glades with their beautiful green sward and varied foliage is the special attraction to the inland and the outland tourists of all ages. This waterfall is the prime source of water for the villages of this district. This is the native land for a number of tribes like the Yerava tribe, Kuruba tribe, Airies tribe and Kudiya tribe.

Mallalli falls is located in the foothills of Pushpagiri Mountains. This Pushpagiri Mountains is the highest peak in Karnataka. It is located in the Somwarpet Taluk, 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Somwarpet in the northern part of Kodagu district on the border between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts. It is around 265 km from Bengaluru. The Kumaradhara River is the main watercourse for this waterfall of Mallalli. It later flows through Kukke Subrahmanya and merges with the Netravati River. This river is the supporting point of Mangalore at Uppinangadi.

The climate in this region is generally cool and wet. The climate is that of a highland, with no extreme variations. It receives heavy rainfall between June and September. From October to December the area is covered with mist almost all the time. The water of Mallalli falls only during the monsoon season. There is no availability of water during the other seasons. Hence the best time to visit the place is in monsoon. The tourists travel during the monsoon season to visit the Mallalli Falls.

The best time to visit Mallalli falls is between 10 am to 4 pm. After dusk the area become dark. The Kumaradhara River is the main watercourse for this waterfall. The Kumaradhara River later passes through Kukke Subrahmanya and merges with the Netravati River. This Netravati River is the lifeline of Mangalore. At Uppinangadi there are lakhs of visitors offering their payers.
