Makijany Mohan, the ‘Sambha’ of Bollywood blockbuster Sholay, was an accomplished actor known especially for his villainous roles. In addition to Bollywood, he has appeared and lent his voice in a number of regional movies.

Makijany Mohan, Bollywood ActorMakijany Mohan well known as Mac Mohan was a popular Indian actor who was recognized for his excellent portrayal of villainous roles. He appeared in 218 movies among which most of them were Bollywood movies. The actor rose to fame with films like Shaan, Rafoo Chakkar, Khoon Pasina, Zanjeer, Satte Pe Satta, Karz and Don. His most memorable role had been the character of `Sambha` in Ramesh Sippy`s blockbuster Sholay. Mac Mohan was born on 24th April 1938 in Karachi of British India.

Career of Makijany Mohan
Mac Mohan wanted to pursue a career in cricket and thus came to Mumbai to achieve the same. However in Mumbai he joined theatre and developed a keen interest in acting. He also joined Filmalaya School of Acting in Mumbai from where he received his acting training. Mac Mohan entered the Hindi film industry as an assistant director and began working with director Chetan Anand. He made his debut as an actor in the year 1964 through the movie Haqeeqat. Following this, he enacted in a number of Hindi movies and acquired recognition and acclamation as an accomplished actor. Apart from Bollywood, his career encompasses movies of several languages including Marathi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Haryanvi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi. Mac Mohan has also lent his voice to the movies of all Indian languages, except Oriya, and International languages like Spanish, Russian and English. Personal Life of Makijany Mohan
In the year 1986 Mac Mohan married Minny, an ayurvedic doctor, and the couple had a son and two daughters. He was the maternal uncle of Raveena Tandon, a popular Bollywood actress and the classmate of renowned actor Sunil Dutt. Mac Mohan also had a brilliant command over written and spoken English. He was fond of reading newspapers Reader`s Digest magazine.

Death of Makijany Mohan
Mac Mohan was suffering from lung cancer and was first hospitalized in November 2009 before starting the shooting for the movie Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? He died on 10th May 2010. On 14th of May 2010 a special prayer meeting was held at Noida Film City by Asian Academy of Film and Television. On the same day another condolence meeting was held for family and friends at Ajivasan Hall.
