Mahksamkha Mala

Mahksamkha Mala is recommended for Viracarins while performing special rites like Marana. According to the Trisaktiratna Mahksamkha is the name of a bone between the ears and the eyes. However from some texts Mahksamkha is denote as a bone of the forehead or of the fingers. Seldom Mahksamkha Mala is prescribed for Purascharana. One can achieve eight types of Siddhi if they use this Mala. According to a text of Yamala the bones of the skulls of elephants, horses and camels those who are killed in battle can probably be used for this purpose.

The bones of the persons given below are suitable: any one who loses life through a thunder-stroke, snake-bite, attack of tigers, drowned in water and fight in a battle. A young person`s dead body or a dark-complexioned person or a Brahmana`s corpse would be enough. However corpses of some types of people cannot be used for this purpose: those who died due to famine, disease and suicide. Dead bodies of two-year old boy, a woman, dvija, leper and one who died seven days ago cannot be used.

If one chants mantras through this Mala, mind and the soul can be purified thereby making it divine.
